Patient Relocation

In this episode of the FlexSim Healthcare Instructional Video Series, we demonstrate how to model the mass relocation of patients from one hospital over to another hospital.

Patients are wheeled in a gurney by a tech from an inpatient bed to the hospital entrance where they will wait for an ambulance to ferry them to the destination hospital. Several ambulances will be needed to ferry the patients to the destination hospital as well as take the techs and empty gurneys back to the origin hospital.

The method used in this relocation model for modeling the transfer of patients using a pool of ambulances could also be used to model other transportation systems such as buses traveling a route picking up and dropping off passengers!
