FlexSim Answers to migrate to Autodesk Forums on April 25
Starting on April 25, 2025, the FlexSim Answers forum will be migrated to a new platform on the Autodesk Forums. This strategic move aims to enhance user experience and streamline community engagement for FlexSim users. The transition will take place over the weekend of April 25-27, with the new forum going live on Monday, April 28.
Why make this change?
The Autodesk Forums are based on a more robust platform with increased visibility, which will allow the FlexSim Answers community to grow into a more self-sustaining, peer-to-peer support hub. FlexSim support engineers will continue to visit the forum as often as possible, but we look forward to FlexSim users being empowered to help each other—making this a truly community-led space.
How will I receive FlexSim support?
All FlexSim users, regardless of their license type or status, will have full access to the new space on Autodesk Forums and the Autodesk Learn platform, combining community-led support with extensive learning resources.
In addition, eligible users will have a new workflow to reach the FlexSim support team directly—we will share more information soon.
What will happen to my FlexSim Answers account and content?
These are the details on what will happen to FlexSim Answers accounts and content:
- Read-Only Mode and Migration Details: During the migration weekend, the FlexSim Answers forum will enter read-only mode, allowing users to view content but not post new questions or answers. This temporary measure ensures that all existing public content can be smoothly transitioned to the new platform. The majority of the content, including votes and accepted solutions, will be preserved during the migration.
- New Home on Autodesk Forums: The FlexSim community’s new home will be under the forums.autodesk.com domain (although the final address is yet to be confirmed). The threads will be reformatted to follow a strict time order, providing a more organized and user-friendly experience. Old links to content on answers.flexsim.com will be forwarded to their equivalent posts on the new platform to maintain accessibility.
- User Authorship and Account Mapping: One of the key aspects of the migration is the preservation of authorship. Any user who has authored a post will be migrated to the new platform. Posting on forums.autodesk.com will require an Autodesk account. For users who have an Autodesk account with the same email as their FlexSim account, their authorship will be seamlessly mapped to their existing Autodesk account (approximately 40% of authors already have an Autodesk account). Other users will be invited to create or link to an Autodesk account in the coming weeks.
- Handling of Private Content: Private content from the FlexSim Answers forum will either be deleted or archived into an employee-only area, as forums.autodesk.com does not support private communication channels.
- User Creation Disabled: To facilitate the user mapping process, new user creation on Answers will be disabled from April 23. This measure ensures that only existing users can post during the final days of the old forum.
Autodesk is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and providing an improved platform for the FlexSim community. Stay tuned for further updates and instructions on accessing the new forums. For more information, visit the announcement on FlexSim Answers.
We look forward to welcoming you to the new FlexSim community home on Autodesk Forums!
