University partners with simulation modeling company to provide industry-standard software to students and professors

Torino, Italy, May 14, 2015 — Politecnico di Torino has finalized an agreement with FlexSim Software Products, Inc. to provide 3D simulation modeling software to the university. Students and professors will receive the same industry-standard software used by companies worldwide in the manufacturing, material handling, healthcare, warehousing, mining, and supply chain sectors.

“FlexSim and its partners are strongly committed to supporting universities in simulation teaching and research,” said Maurizio Giubilato, C.O.O. of Flexcon s.r.l, FlexSim’s Italian partner. “We believe this is a key asset for both students and professors, providing a consistent basis for their professional development in production and logistics.”

Politecnico di Torino will receive academic licenses of FlexSim valued at over $100,000 USD, to be used by the Department of Management and Production Engineering. In addition, Flexcon will provide training and specialized support to promote the use of simulation within the university’s engineering courses.

As part of the agreement, Politecnico di Torino will introduce FlexSim simulation software in its applicable courses, specifically in the area of management and production engineering, and will promote the development of thesis projects based on a simulation approach.
